A particulate filter (DPF - Diesel Particle Filter) is an important component of the exhaust system of diesel engines, designed to capture and retain solid particulate soot that is produced by the combustion of fuel in cylinders.

In diesel cars, which spend most of their time moving over short distances, the soot filter does not have time to warm up to operating temperature to free itself from the soot particles accumulated in it. Result: the particulate filter is gradually filled, which affects the operation of the engine –, power drops, fuel consumption increases, etc. To clean the soot filter, it is necessary to periodically carry out a regeneration procedure, during which the accumulated soot is burned at high temperatures of the exhaust gases.
